A few readers may notice that I removed a recent post. I didn't delete it because it was untrue, nor because I wished to erase my experiences. The events and feelings described were real, and writing about them was an important part of processing them.
In many ways, writing it helped me put words to wounds that have shaped me for a long time.Ultimately, I chose to remove it because I no longer wanted that pain sitting in front of me like a monument. The experiences remain part of my story, and the lessons remain part of my growth, but I don't need to revisit them every time I open my website.
This was not an act of denial, nor an attempt to rewrite my history. I simply realized that while the post helped me acknowledge and process those wounds, I no longer want to give those painful moments so much space in my present life. I don't regret writing it. I believe the healthiest next step is to move forward.
I've also decided that I won't be writing further about members of my immediate family. It would be unfair to assume that one morning's text conversation adequately encompasses all of who we are. We can only speak from our own experiences and how we perceived them. My perspective is mine alone, and others may have experienced the same events differently. At this point, I'd rather focus on moving forward than continuing to revisit old hurts.
